Diners Club International is a banking and payment services company owned by Discover Financial Services. The Diners Club Card was the world’s first multipurpose charge card to be used for dining and travel expenses. The Diners Club aims to support global dining and entertainment via partnerships benefitting Diners Club cardholders, which it calls “Clubmembers.”
Diners Club cards may be worthwhile for people who travel frequently around the world and want to take advantage of Clubmember benefits at select restaurants, golf clubs, entertainment and more. Diners Club credit cards issued in the U.S. can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted.
Currently, applications are closed for consumer Diners Club cards. In the U.S. corporate cards are still available, but prospective cardholders must ask their employer if their company is a member of the Diners Club Corporate Card program. Current Diners Club cardholders are still active and have no issues using their cards.
When applications were most recently open for Diners Club credit cards, the following two types of consumer cards were available:
Club Rewards points can be transferred to airline rewards programs or redeemed for custom travel benefits and more. Cards and benefits are subject to change, especially if the Diners Club opens its applications again.
No single credit card is the best option for every family, every purchase or every budget. We've picked the best credit cards in a way designed to be the most helpful to the widest variety of readers.
Diners Club cardholders (also known as Clubmembers) have access to exclusive benefits at restaurants, golf clubs and other service-industry merchants. The Diners Club partnership with over 1,300 airport lounges makes a Diners Club card useful for frequent travelers.
Currently, applications for consumer cards are closed in the U.S., but travelers have other options for credit cards with the best travel rewards. Consider our list of Best Credit Cards for Lounge Access or Best Cash Back Cards if access to airport lounges or cash rewards are important.
